Pakistan’s Khushdil Shah is in the news because he got fined 50% of his match fee after the first T20I against New Zealand. He broke the ICC Code of Conduct and got three demerit points too.
So, here’s what happened: During the eighth over of Pakistan’s batting, Khushdil hit the ball and ran into the bowler, who wasn’t looking. The umpire spoke to Khushdil after the two runs were completed.
Khushdil admitted to what he did, so there wasn’t a need for a hearing. As for his batting, he scored the most runs for Pakistan in that first T20I against New Zealand.
The game was on March 16 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Pakistan batted first, and their openers, Mohammad Haris and Hasan Nawaz, both got out for zero.
Salman Agha scored 18 runs, and Khushdil Shah made 32 off 30 balls. Pakistan ended up getting all out for just 91 runs. For New Zealand, Jacob Duffy was the best bowler, taking four wickets. Kyle Jamieson grabbed three, Ish Sodhi got two, and Zakary Foulkes took one.
When New Zealand batted, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen opened. Seifert smashed 44 runs off 29 balls, and Allen remained not out with 29* off 17 balls. Tim Robinson also added 18* runs as New Zealand won by nine wickets.
