She is passionate about her team, and Sunrisers Hyderabad owner, Kavya Maran, has been spotted several times in the stadium cheering for the franchise. However, this IPL 2025 season has not been one to celebrate for her, as the team managed to win just two out of seven matches. The most recent upset for Maran was when the SRH player Harshal Patel dropped the catch of a relatively easy ball from Ravindra Jadeja in the match against Chennai Super Kings. From her seat, it seemed like she was yelling at Harshal for missing such a big opportunity. Jadeja was only on 9 runs when he hit a shot that should’ve been caught, but the ball slipped right through Harshal’s hands, disappointing both his teammates and Maran.
Jadeja eventually made 21 runs before being bowled out by Kamindu Mendis. This is the match that SRH badly required following the bad start to the season. He came in place of Mohammed Shami, who had been rested in the previous game, and took a wicket with his very first delivery. Cummins was captain-in-charge of this match after winning the toss and opting to bat first on an otherwise normal sunny day.
Being the captain, about to appear for throw at the toss, Cummins said that “We are going to bowl first. Playing against Chennai is always a big deal, and coming off a couple of losses, the guys are ready for it. If the pitch is good, we are hoping they can put up a big score.”
Dhoni and his boys also decided to make some changes after a terrible outing, and there was a chance dew added to their reason for bowling first after the toss. “When you’re not playing well, there’s pressure all around. We are focusing on improving with each game, looking at a few different combinations, and trusting ourselves,” he added.
