Karunaratne And Mathews Created History In The First Test Against New Zealand

The first match of the two-Test series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand is being played at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Mathews, who made his Test debut in 2009, broke Jayasuriya’s record of 6,973 runs in 110 Tests. The 35-year-old all-rounder is now behind only Kumar Sangakkara (12,400 runs) and Mahela Jayawardene (11,814 runs) in the list of Sri Lanka’s highest run-getters in Test cricket.
