Kapil Dev drops a massive bombshell regarding the family outburst by Virat Kohli

Kapil Dev, the famous cricketer, is cool with players bringing their families on tour. But he thinks there needs to be a middle ground when dealing with this tricky topic that people can’t agree on. After India lost to Australia 3-1 in the Test series, the BCCI said families could only visit for 14 days on tours longer than 45 days. If the tour was shorter, families could come for a week max.

I don’t know, it depends on the person. It’s up to the cricket board, said Kapil, who won the 1983 World Cup. He was speaking at the ‘Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational’ event.

I think you need family, sure. But you also need the team to be together. At the Champions Trophy, players like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami had their families in Dubai, but the families didn’t stay at the team hotel. The players paid for their families’ stay themselves.

Back in our day, we decided ourselves – not the cricket board – that we’d focus on cricket for the first part of the tour. Then, families could come and enjoy the rest. It should be a mix, said Kapil, who’s currently the President of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

Kohli said on Sunday that he likes having family around on tours. He said he’d rather have that support with him during tough times on the field than be alone in a hotel room.
