Former captain of New Zealand cricket team and one of the top batsman noted for his many accomplishments Kane Williamson will not be coming to India for the Test match against the team led by Rohit Sharma. The third and final Test match of the three-match series that India and New Zealand are playing will be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, first of November.
Kane Williamson is unable make the trip to India for the third Test match of the series in Mumbai, as stated in the official release of New Zealand cricket on October 29, regarding his fitness for the three test series against England which is falling next in the schedule.
“Williamson will not travel to England for the first Test owing to a groin injury, especially with the first England Test in Hagley Oval starting on November 28,” the Black Caps stated in a statement.
New Zealand’s head coach Gary Stead mentioned the 34-year-old right-handed batter was on course but that the prudent approach would allow him to recuperate fully in readiness for the England series.
“Kane continues to show good signs, but isn’t quite ready to jump on a plane and join us,” said Stead.
“Though optimistic, we would prefer for him to remain in New Zealand and complete the last phase of his rehabilitation so that he can play against England.
“Since the England series is still a month away, it is advisable to take this approach now so that he is able to participate in the first Test match in Christchurch.”
