“Just before the captain’s meet…” CSK CEO revels Shocking move of Ms Dhoni

One of the biggest stars and successful captains of the IPL, Ms. Dhoni, has now chosen Ruturaj Gaikwad as his successor to take CSK forward.

Just before CSK’s first game of the season, CSK took to social media to announce Ruturaj Gaikwad as the new skipper of CSK for the upcoming IPL season.

In their official statement, CSK said, “MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of the TATA IPL 2024. Ruturaj has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in the IPL during this period. The team looks forward to the upcoming season.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been one of the core members of the team, has been with the franchise for a long time. Ruturaj has so far played 52 matches for CSK.

Speaking of Dhoni’s decision CSK’s CEO, Kasi Vishwanathan, said, “Whatever Dhoni does, it is in the best interest of the team. I learned of the decision just before the captains’ meeting. You have to respect his decision; it is his call.”

Well, this is not the first time CSK has attempted a transition in leadership.

The yellow army appointed Ravindra Jadeja as their new captain ahead of the 2022 IPL season, but the franchise failed to perform as per the expectations of the fans.

Speaking on the same, Kasi Vishwanathan said, “It didn’t work out at that time; this is different.”

On the other hand, CSK’s head coach, Stephen Flaming, added, “We weren’t ready to move away from MS in 2022. Dhoni has a good sense of the game, but we want to develop the young players for the role. We are well prepared this time.”
