Jasprit Bumrah has proved to be one of the leading bowlers in cricket today. He’s been a vital component of the Indian team and shone for Mumbai Indians in IPL. Bumrah started out into MI cricket back in 2013; hence, with over 12 years of experience, he has become a significant part of the franchise.
He recently shed some light on the advice he got from the cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, before his MI debut. When asked about his early days at Mumbai Indians, Bumrah stated, “When I joined, Sachin was still playing, in his last year. Coming into this atmosphere at 19 and seeing such legendary players was a bit overwhelming,” describing the atmosphere at a promotional event as reported by SportStar. “Before my first game, Sachin told me, ‘Don’t look at the individual. Bowl to the batsman, not to the name.’ That really helped me.”
Mumbai Indians had started the tournament on a terrible note, were on losing streak in the beginning, but then they managed to bounce back and are now fighting for a playoff berth. Bumrah spills the beans about how the team was finding form just as the big games arrived: “We start a bit slow, but peak at the right moment. It’s a very good sign that we are not relying on just one player to win games.”
