Jason Holder and Jayden Seals return as West Indies pick their squad for England tour

For their three-match Test series against England in July, the West Indies have named a squad of fifteen players, including the return of experienced all-rounder Jason Holder and fast bowler Jayden Seales.

The West Indies’ Test trip of Australia earlier this month did not include Holder or Seales. Holder had chosen to play in the ILT20 rather than continue with the trip in order to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, however Seales was unable to be selected because of a shoulder injury.

Due to an unidentified injury, Holder, 32, was recently declared ineligible to compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. His continuous strong performance in the Worcestershire County Championship has earned him a reward. However, in Sussex’s current County season, Seales has also shown promise. In Division Two of the County Championship, the right-arm bowler is the top wicket-taker. Opening pick Tagenarine Chanderpaul has been dropped by the selection panel. Chanderpaul could only muster 31 runs in four innings during his lackluster tour of Australia.

Mikyle Louis, the top run scorer in the West Indies Championship at the end of the 2023–24 season, has taken Tagenarine’s place. Isai Thorne, 19, who is traveling with the team as a development player but is not part of the 15-man roster, is part of the touring party. .

Chief selector Desmond Haynes of the West Indies is confident that the team would perform well in England and help the Windies win their first Test series on home soil since 1988.
