Jason Gillespie lashes out Aaqib Javed for his recent derogatory remarks

Former Australia paceman, Jason Gillspie is finally taking a jibe at Pakistan’s interim head coach Aaqib Javed for undermining them during their stint with men in green and running campaign “behind the scenes” to take their role across all formats. Three months after resigning from his post as Pakistan’s red-ball head coach, Gillespie has broken silence over the sudden resignation and accused Aaqib of “undermining” him and former white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten. A number of months into their respective terms, Kirsten had departed from the coaching setup in October following six months of his contract.

Following the abrupt resignation of Kirsten, Gillespie got the assignment of overseeing the white-ball setup. Surprisingly, a couple of months later, Gillespie decided to step down from his role, resulting in Aaqib taking over the responsibility on an interim basis.

After Pakistan’s shambolic defense of the Champions Trophy and its exit in the group stage, Aaqib has blamed the constant management changes at the Pakistan Cricket Board that have affected performance viewed with regards to their poor performance.

Gillespie went onto attack Aaqib for his comments and holds that the former Pakistan quick was running a campaign behind the scenes to take the coaching post.

“Hilarious. Aaqib was obviously undermining Gary and I behind the scenes campaigning to be the all-format coach. Total clown,” Gillespie shared on Instagram.

The return of global cricket events to Pakistan after almost three decades was spoiled by New Zealand. The Blackcaps, buoyed by their enormous success in the ODI tri-nation series, forced Pakistan to a 60-run defeat.

The heroic draw from Pakistan found the defending champions in a spot of bother, with early signs pointing towards an early departure from the party. It made the hyped-up contest against India a must-win. The odds were stacked high against them and yet again poor attempts at orchestrating a victory in Dubai put Pakistan in disrepute.

A defending champion needed a little favour from Bangladesh if they were to overcome New Zealand. The Kiwis, however, had no such plans and crushed the Tigresses. That was Bangladesh’s exit along with Pakistan. Their last day of competition, a dead rubber against Bangladesh, was squandered by rains.
