Anderson, who is regarded as England’s all-time leading Test wicket-taker with a total of 704 wickets, is being sought by Major League Cricket (MLC) to possibly join them for their season in 2025. Senior Officials from at least one unnamed MLC franchise are trying to find out the opinion of this fast-bowling legend on whether he would think about joining them in US T20 tournament that is undergoing expansion, as reported by BBC Sport.
The former England international retired after an impressive haul of 704 test wickets and has only returned recently to become their fast-bowling coach as part of England coaching staff.
He has recently hinted about the possibility of returning to white-ball format dote thought to have made MLC attracted to him since it has attracted several high profiles including Australia’s captain Pat Cummins; this list also includes prominent names such as Steve Smith Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head among other players who are stars in their own respective rights.
Sources suggest that if Anderson were to sign on with MLC then he would be paid around 1,35 thousand euros (approx. Rs 1.49 crore) for just a few matches because the competition will increase from 19 games to 34 games in 2025 according to a BBC source.
Even though Anderson has focused on playing only the red-ball format for over a decade, he believes he can still play well in a shorter format of the game despite his last T20 match which was back in 2014 when he played for Lancashire during T20 Blast.
MLC has aimed at box office English attractions by enigmatic persons such as Satya Nadella of Microsoft fame. Liam Plunkett as well as Jason Roy who are World Cup winners have graced some of its past editions, where the latter signed a 3,00,000 euro two-year deal with Los Angeles Knight Riders.
