“It’s not the orange cap that wins you…”Ambati Rayudu’s Controversial Comments on RCB and Virat Kohli

Kolkata Knight Riders ended their long wait of 10 years to win the IPL. This was the first time since 2014 that Knight Riders clinched the trophy under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. As soon as the men in purple won the trophy, former Mumbai Indians and CSK batter Ambati Rayadu took another dig at Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Ambati Rayadu said that “it’s not the orange cap that wins you titles, but collective efforts do.”” The orange cap this year was won by India’s run machine, Virat Kohli, who aggregated over 700, but his team was knocked out by the Rajasthan Royals in the eliminator.

In his interaction with Star Sports, Ambati Rayadu said, “Kudos to the KKR squad for contributing to the team’s victory and for bravely defending veterans like Narine, Russell, and Starc. A team wins the Indian Premier League in this manner. Over the years, we have witnessed this. The IPL is won by contributions like 300 runs apiece (from numerous players), not by the Orange Cap.”

Ambati Rayadu further went on to speak about Virat Kohli, saying that the star batter should lower his standard as the other players in the team feel pressured due to the contribution made by India.

Ambati Rayadu said, “Among the team’s stalwarts and legends is Virat Kohli. The young people feel pressured to follow in his footsteps since he has such high standards. In order to ensure that the young players are happy in the changing room, Virat must therefore somewhat relax his standards.”

Over the years, Kohli has been a reliable run scorer for RCB, but he hasn’t received the necessary assistance from the opposing side. Historically, even the bowling department of the franchise has had difficulty producing results consistently.
