ricketer Ahmed Shehzad, who is currently not in the limelight, has criticized his fellow cricketers from Pakistan for their lack of wisdom in shot execution during the second Test match with Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium while observing that they are not learning from their past errors.
“Bangladeshi bowlers have come back fighting. And Pakistani batsmen are again made to dance to the tunes of Bangladeshi bowlers. The same shot selections we have been talking about. The T20 shots—we have seen them again. The bat of the batsman is going so far away from his bat. In T20 cricket or in T10 cricket if such waywardness leads to a dismissal, coaches would question whether or not they were being hard on their players. Test cricket is therefore not going to help you learn when you get out playing these shots consistently. Perhaps this implies that you lack the attractiveness or ability which consequently enables us to presume that expecting you is a mistake either on our part or that of this nation whose sentiments you have toyed around with,” says he in a video posted on X.
As per him, Bangladesh’s 10-wicket victory in the first Test last month was not mere chance because they have demonstrated their prowess in the second match too and are now on the verge of winning the second Test.
In the second inning of their match on Monday (September 2), the visitors bowled out Pakistan for 172 runs; hence, they only need a further 143 runs on the final day to claim an unprecedented series win over them in Pakistan.
“Bangladesh cricket team has made history by defeating you in their first match. And again they are controlling the second match too. So this cannot be a coincidence. Losing to Zimbabwe, Afghanistan or Ireland is not a coincidence either. This is how far Pakistani cricket has come.”
“But I refuse to put all the blame on the players,” Shehzad said continuing, “PCB is equally responsible.”
“I don’t hold players accountable for this rubbish at all,” he said , PCB has to take equal share of blame like the players do because it was there before us all. Sometimes we needed to make certain decisions but we did what we always do instead; distract people with media broadcasts on TV. After that they thought that Bangladeshi cricket would come and we would surely win them up. Then it was going to be over when they had been beaten; people’s anger would subside at last. When can we begin a Pakistan Cup? Your plans have been turned upside down and dumped into your own face,” he added.
