“It’s entirely up to…”Unveiling the Crucial Factor in Convincing India of Great Coaching

It’s no secret that VVS Laxman is reluctant to lead the Indian squad as head coach, but how the BCCI keeps the former batting legend in the lineup when his term as NCA’s “Head of Cricket” ends in September of this year is still up in the air.

Although Gautam Gambhir, the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, is thought to be the BCCI’s preferred choice, it is unclear if secretary Jay Shah has discussed Gambhir’s universal acceptability with the senior players of the national squad.

In addition to denying that the Board has been in contact with any Australian applicants, Shah hinted in a statement released on Friday that the Board is seeking an Indian coach who has experience coaching at the highest levels and is well-versed in the cricket environment.

Given that the elegant former Hyderabadi player served as an interim India coach for nearly three years at the NCA (National Cricket Academy), Laxman appears to be the most likely replacement.

However, he hasn’t applied for the position, which will require a lot of mental and physical work over the following three and a half years. Applications must be submitted by May 27th.

With the goodwill he holds at the BCCI’s High Performance Centre as the structural head of the nation’s pathways cricket system (India A, Emerging, U-19, and junior women’s cricket), Laxman would have a considerable advantage should he decide to apply.

The 49-year-old would also want to be retained by the BCCI, and they would even try to persuade him to accept the top position. Under the condition of anonymity, a former BCCI office-bearer told PTI, “It will be completely up to Jay, but he has to convince VVS to be a part of the Indian set-up, at least when they play the red ball series.”

After his time as an NCA expires, Laxman is expected to have a standing offer from at least one team, so returning to the IPL won’t be that tough. He is a well-known pundit as well.-cum-analyst

Laxman had to move from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, unlike Rahul (Dravid), who was established there. Not to mention his generosity in accepting a lower salary than he was receiving as an expert with one of the broadcasters and as a mentor for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The former office holder stated, “There will be factors, but Laxman’s services should be used properly.”
