‘It Was The Biggest Blunder By KKR To Not Pick Him In Mega-auction’, Vinay Kumar Criticizes KKR Franchise

In the Indian Premier League 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders are performing strongly. They are currently holding the second position in the points table with five wins after Rajasthan Royals. The team is performing well under Gautam Gambhir, who is the new mentor of the franchise, appointed by the two-time champions.

In the current 17th season, Sunil Narine, Phil Salt, Andre Russell, and Harshit Rana are playing important roles for Kolkata Knight Riders. The team had struggled in past seasons. However, Gautam Gambhir has changed the fortune for the team and they are now the top contenders to win the IPL.

Shubman Gill who was once with Kolkata Knight Riders is currently holding the skipper chair for Gujarat Titans. Gill gave some memorable performances for KKR before 2022, but he was not retained by the franchise.

Before the auction process, Gujarat, which was making its debut in the league, signed Shubman Gill. Since then, the young batsman has gained more recognition. He scored over 800 runs in the previous season and won the Orange Cap.

Former India player Vinay Kumar criticized Kolkata Knight Riders for not retaining the budding talent of Indian cricket, Shubman Gill.

While talking on Star Sports, Vinay Kumar said,“They made a big mistake by not retaining Shubman Gill. He has become a big star in the last three years. The management and the owners should have kept Gill in the team. You need match-winners like him to win titles.”
