‘It was a shocking stat of Kohli’, Shastri Reacts To Virat’s Comparison With Babar, Williamson,Warner and Root

Even if Virat Kohli is struggling with his form, the former Indian captain has kept himself rigid among the FAB 5 of modern-day cricket. From Kane Williamson To Joe Root, David Warner And Babar Azam Of Pakistan, the cricket fans and experts then and now compare these players digging out their stats and other Trivia.

Virat Kohli since the beginning of his career is known for his consistency across all the three formats which made him different from others. However, Kohli is not going through a good form since a few years and the batter is craving for some good runs with his bat.

Meanwhile, the former Indian coach and well wisher of Kohli, Ravi Shastri recalled a ‘Shocking Stat’ of Virat Kohli which he came to know during the rescheduled 5th test against England at Edgbaston.

Speaking during a press conference, organised by star sports before the Asia Cup, Shastri said,”Sometimes, it is important that when we talk about this rest and all that. Later on, you realise that when you are back in the media, you are doing all television, people come out with stars. One stat that emerged during a Test match against England, which shocked me, really. It said that in the last three years, when you look at the top players in the world, that is [Kane] Williamson, David Warner, Babar Azam, Virat Kohli and Joe Root, Virat has played three times the number of games as everyone else across all cricket.”

He further added,”So it shocked me where he was at about 950 games and that next was at 400. They had played less than half. When you are captain of a side, playing all three formats, it takes a toll. And it would have sucked whatever out of him. And that’s why the break might just help him come around and do wonders.”

Shastri has analysed Kohli’s game from a very close space and he is confident that the batsman will make a huge comeback very soon.

Talking about Virat’s form, the former Indian coach said,”People keep saying… It’s often said that one or two innings can make a difference. But with a player like this, it can make a massive difference because he has got the fitness, he has got the physical strength. Performance will get the mental strength back and the hunger and passion remain undiminished. Let me assure you that,” added Shastri.”
