Is Rohit Sharma struggling against the left arm pace? Here’s what you need to know

Rohit Sharma’s struggles against left-arm bowlers continued on Tuesday during the match against Gujarat Titans. Playing at the crowded Wankhede Stadium, Rohit couldn’t handle Madhya Pradesh’s Arshad Khan and ended up caught by Prasidh Krishna. He scored just 7 runs off 8 balls.

This season hasn’t been kind to Rohit. In 35 innings so far, he’s faced 182 balls, scored 268 runs with a strike rate of 147.25, but has been out 12 times averaging just 7.65. Overall, he’s had some ups and downs in this edition of IPL, managing 300 runs from 11 matches at an average of 30.00, including three fifties.

After Rohit got out, MI tried to bounce back but Gujarat really took charge. Suryakumar Yadav and Jack managed to get MI to 56 for 2 by the end of the powerplay. They added 50 runs off just 26 balls, and MI reached 89 for 2 after 10 overs.

Jack, who had a bit of luck with some dropped catches, scored his fifty in 11 overs, needing just 29 balls to do it. Unfortunately for MI, Suryakumar was out for 35 from 24 balls, hitting five fours. Veteran spinner Rashid Khan got Jack out for 53 off 35 balls, which included five fours and three sixes.

Then, MI captain Hardik Pandya came in but was out for just 1 run. MI kept losing wickets after Suryakumar’s dismissal, and Gerald Coetzee took Tilak Varma down for 7 runs in his first over. Corbin Bosch added a quick 27 runs, but MI could only manage 155 for 8 in the end.
