Is Rishabh Pant Scared Of Dinesh Karthik For His Place In The Indian Playing XI? Here Is An Interesting Update

Rishabh Pant’s place was never firmly established in white-ball cricket due to some inconsistency with the bat. He was always kept on his toes by people like Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and more lately, Dinesh Karthik. Chandu Borde, a legend in India, has a different viewpoint. He claimed,Pant has competition from nobody, not even Dinesh Karthik.

India’s batting unit currently boasts a lot of depth, and the rivalry for spots in the team has grown fierce. With his aggressive playing style, Rishabh Pant has been one of the national team’s most impressive players. Pant’s batting approach was initially best suited for white-ball cricket, but surprise, he has performed admirably in Test matches. Pant has so far played outstanding knocks in South Africa, Australia, and England.

This year will mark the start of the T20 World Cup, therefore the decision made by the tournament’s selection committee will be intriguing. Chandu Borde, a former India selector, disagrees and claims that Pant has no competition and will automatically be selected for T20Is.
When asked if Pant’s position in T20Is was in jeopardy due to Dinesh Karthik’s recent finisher performances, Borde responded to India TV, ” This is great competition within the team. Whoever performs will be part of the team. To be honest, I don’t think there is any competition for Rishabh Pant. He is an automatic choice and will continue to be an important part of the team. Rishabh Pant is a player who can change the momentum of the game in no time, and he is not just a finisher – he can play anywhere and anytime.”
What Pant has accomplished in such a short period of time, according to Borde, who later served as manager and selection of India, is remarkable.

He further added, “If you look at Rishabh Pant’s career span, he has just started out, but the way he has won matches for India – it’s unbelievable. With time, as he learns more, his performance will reach newer heights.”

Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are not the part of the ongoing India – Zimbabwe ODI series. Both will join the Asia Cup squad set to begin from 27 August. India will play its first fixture on 28 August against Pakistan.
