Is Ajinkya Rahane injured? Anukul Roy provides a massive update

The injury suffered by Ajinkya Rahane during the match against DC is not severe, as KKR’s Anukul Roy assured. Rahane, who has been the top batter for KKR this season with 297 runs in 10 matches, injured his hand while fielding and had to walk off the field. He watched the match from the dugout. Sunil Narine took over the captaincy in his absence and led the side to victory to keep alive KKR’s hopes for a playoff spot.

In the post-match press conference, Anukul mentioned that Rahane will need a couple of days to recover, although he thinks that the injury is quite manageable. “It doesn’t seem too serious. He might need two or three days. The doctors will give us a clearer idea, but for now, he’s okay. He got a few stitches, but it’s manageable,” Anukul said. KKR’s next match is against RR on May 4; we’ll see then if Rahane is fit to play.

Anukul was quite instrumental in having KKR registered for victory in his first match; the team was strong before Narine twisted things around. “The match had started drifting towards them — they were batting really well. It felt like we were under

pressure. But then Narine came in, bowled brilliantly, and took two or three wickets in a row. That pumped us all up and brought us back into the game,” said Anukul.
