IPL Final 2023: ‘Hardik Pandya And GT Management Disturbed Mohit Sharma’, Sunil Gavaskar After GT Loss To CSK

Former Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar raised doubts about the decision of Gujarat Titans and Hardik Pandya to disrupt Mohit Sharma’s rhythm in the final over of the IPL 2023 final. Gavaskar emphasized that there was unnecessary interference such as providing water and engaging in a discussion with the fast bowler. Mohit was executing the yorkers so perfectly and then the GT skipper discussed something which Gavaskar thought was unnecessary.

Former batter Sunil Gavaskar criticized the captain and head coach Ashish Nehra and stated that it was unnecessary to break the focus of Mohit Sharma who was entrusted with bowling the final over against Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja when Chennai Super Kings required 13 runs in a highly intense chase during the match.

“He (Mohit) had bowled the first 3-4 delivery absolutely brilliantly. Then, for some strange reason, some water was sent to him. In the middle of the over, some drink was sent to him. Then Hardik Pandya came and spoke with him,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today after the IPL 2023 final.

“You know when a bowler is in that rhythm and he is mentally also there, nobody should have said anything to him. Maybe from a distance, they could have just said ‘well bowled’. Going to them, talking to him – I do not think that was the right thing to do because suddenly, he was looking here and there. Till then, he was focused and I do not think what they did was the right idea. Because after that, he went for runs,” he added.
