Last year, right before the IPL auction, Rohit Sharma was removed from the captaincy of Mumbai Indians, and in his place, the management picked Hardik Pandya as their next captain. Rohit led Mumbai to the five titles and it was a disappointing moment for the fans of MI when Hitman Sharma was replaced by Pandya.
At the moment, Rohit Sharma is under the leadership of Hardik Pandya in the ongoing IPL 2024. However, the dynamic will change during the T20 World Cup, where Rohit will take on the role of captain. However, Rohit is accustomed to such transitions, having encountered similar situations in his cricketing journey before.
While talking to reporters on Thursday, Rohit Sharma said, “See, it is part of life. Not everything will go your way. It has been a great experience. Before also in my life, I have not been a captain and I have played under a lot of captains. It is no different or new to me.”
Rohit has been part of teams led by different captains in international cricket, including MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Virender Sehwag. In the IPL, he has played under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist (Deccan Chargers), Harbhajan Singh, Ricky Ponting (both with Mumbai Indians), and currently, Pandya.
“Whatever is there and you go by it and then try and do what is required from you as a player. I have only tried to do that in the last month or so,” Rohit said.
