The head bowling coach of Chennai Super Kings shared his enthusiasm for coaching Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman. He said that both the bowlers are very neutral with their approaches and they don’t need a long coaching session before the matches.
Bravo became CSK’s bowling coach in IPL 2023 after Laxmipathy Balaji, and played an important role in their successful campaign that year. As a former World Cup-winning all-rounder from the West Indies, he has been instrumental in maximizing CSK’s fast-bowling talent in the ongoing 2024 season.
Dwayne Bravo has a lot of respect for Tushar Deshpande, often standing near the boundary to give advice to his bowlers. He’s like a proud parent who always cheers CSK’s fast bowlers and is eager to make a strong comeback after their eight-wicket loss in Lucknow.
While praising Pathirana, Bravo said,”Pathirana is very special. I call him Baby Malinga. I also call him Baby Goat. He is not someone you try to coach because he has a natural ability and skill.”
Pathirana made his debut for CSK in 2022. He impressed everyone with his 19 wickets in the year 2023 with his unique side-arm action, displaying Lasith Malinga. His consistent speed of over 145kph has made him a valuable asset, especially in the death overs.
