IPL 2024: CSK Coach Fleming Gives a Fresh Update On Injury Of MS Dhoni

The head coach of Chennai Super Kings Stephen Fleming has given an update on MS Dhoni’s injury and his role in the team. The former Kiwi batter said that Dhoni is not facing any new injury and highlighted that the wicketkeeper had a muscle injury before the start of the IPL 2024. Not to forget, even after leaving the captaincy, MS Dhoni played a huge role in running the team. In the last game against Punjab Kings, many experts raised questions about MS Dhoni for batting at number nine for the team.

In the match against Punjab Kings, MS Dhoni returned to the pavilion without scoring any single run, against Harshal Patel. After the match, Fleming emphasized the importance of preserving Dhoni and minimizing the risk of losing him in the tournament. Although they have a capable backup wicketkeeper, Fleming highlighted Dhoni’s invaluable contributions to the team at present.

CSK coach said, “We’ve said earlier that when he recovered from knee surgery last year, which was quite debilitating for him, there was going to be a certain workload this year that he could manage. Now, one of our challenges is that we’ve got a good backup keeper, but he’s no MS Dhoni and we want to keep MS Dhoni on the field, doing what he does best, which is the last two, three overs, four overs with the bat and his keeping and his ability to share tactical advice with the new captain is really important. So we’re valuing some other things.”

Dhoni has been a valuable asset for CSK this season, frequently batting lower in the order. The experienced CSK player has gathered 110 runs in 11 matches, showcasing an impressive strike rate of 224.49.
