The mini-auction for the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is happening today in Dubai’s famous Coca-Cola arena. It is the first time that this event is taking place outside India.
The auction started with the West Indian all-rounder Rovman Powell with a base price of INR 1 Crore. The player was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 7.5 Crore. The dashing batter from South Africa Rilee Rossouw went unsold with his base price of INR 2 crore.
The young destructive batter from England, Harry Brook, who played his last season for Sunrisers Hyderabad has now joined Delhi Capital for the next edition. Brook was purchased by DC for INR 4 Crore.
Australian left-handed batter, Travis Head who played an important role for Australia in clinching the ODI World Cup trophy, was sold to SRH for INR 6.8 Crore. After this, the Indian batters Karun Nair and Manish Pandey along with Australia veteran Steve Smith went unsold. Karun Nair And Manish Pandey had their base price of INR 50 Lakhs while Smith came in the auction with a base price of INR 2 Crore.
How Many Players To Take Part?
This auction will feature a pool of 333 players, and the 10 franchises can fill a maximum of 77 slots. Among these, 30 slots are reserved for overseas players. The pool comprises 214 Indian players and 119 overseas players, including two from Associate nations. It includes 116 capped players and 215 uncapped players. Apart from that, two players come from Associate nations.
