Riyan Parag is doing wonders in the Indian Premier League 2024. He’s been moved up in the batting order and has shown great batting skills. He knows when to be aggressive and when to play it safe, looking at the situation of the game. If necessary, he can switch between defensive and attacking shots.
In the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he played attacking cricket and scored 34 runs from just 14 balls. This included four boundaries and two sixes.
He came along with opening batsman Jos Buttler to score more than 50 runs, which contributed to RR’s win. Unfortunately, Parag’s innings ended when he tried a risky shot against Harshit Rana’s bowling and got out.
Harbhajan Singh criticized the young player for his careless shot selection. The experienced player had a conversation with Parag after the match.
“Congratulations Parag. I pray that you represent India in the T20 World Cup. You are playing well. I sometimes criticized you because of the way you dismissals. Don’t you think that there was no need to play a shot that resulted in your downfall,” Harbhajan said.
“I was thinking on the same lines and will make sure that it doesn’t happen in the next match,” Parag replied.
Former Chennai Super Kings batter, Ambati Rayudu also praised Riyan Parag and said, “You are playing really well and keep up the good work. I want to see you playing for India across formats . You have the talent to do it. Have you done anything this season to get good innings from you bat?”
“Thanks a lot sir. I am keeping things simple and is not complicating the stuff. Earlier, I used to think a lot but now my concentration is on how to score runs for the team,” he replied.
