Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has expressed his opinion that Royal Challengers Bangalore needs to address their middle-order issues promptly. He believes that apart from Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Glenn Maxwell the rest of the team is not making enough contributions with the bat. Pathan criticised Dinesh Karthik for failing to contribute with the bat.
According to Irfan Pathan, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team needs to improve their weak middle-order. He emphasised the urgent need to find a solution for this problem. With regards to Dinesh Karthik, Pathan feels that the wicketkeeper-batsman had an excellent performance in the previous season of the tournament which led to his inclusion in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2022. However, Karthik’s form in the ongoing IPL 2023 season has been disappointing and he has scored just 83 runs in eight matches.
While talking to Star Sports, Pathan said,“RCB will have to find a solution that if KGF (Kohli, Glenn, Faf) do not work then who will steer the team through troubled waters? Whether Dinesh Karthik or Mahipal Lomror.”
Pathan further added,”RCB’s middle order looks very weak. Karthik could not prove even once in the last 8 matches that the team can rely on him for big scores or during chases. RCB management will have to fix this loophole in their batting.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore has taken a quick decision to improve their weak middle-order by signing Kedar Jadhav. He has replaced David Willey who is not going well with his health. Jadhav has an impressive track record in the IPL, having played in 93 matches and scored 1196 runs. Previously he represented RCB in 17 matches and this time the franchise has secured his services for INR 1 Crore.
