On May 12, the five times champions Mumbai Indians beat the defending champions Gujarat Titans by 27 runs at Wankhede Stadium. In this match, some exceptional performance was seen where Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant hundred(103) from Mumbai Indians in just 49 balls. Meanwhile, the star leg spinner from Afghanistan who plays from Gujarat Titans in the IPL also performed amazingly specially with the bat.
The GT all-rounder Rashid Khan played an impressive knock and scored an unbeaten 79 off just 32 balls, but unfortunately, his efforts were not enough to lead his team to victory as they lost the match by 27 runs. Not only this, Rashid Khan also took four wickets in the first inning which also includes the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan.
While talking about this match on his Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said that for him Rashid Khan was the most valuable player (MVP) of the match, instead of Suryakumar Yadav, despite his brilliant century. Chopra felt that if the top-order batsmen of Gujarat Titans had scored a few more runs, Rashid Khan might have single-handedly won the match for his team against Mumbai.
“The most valuable player of the match in my humble opinion, is not Suryakumar Yadav. The most valuable player is Rashid Khan. If he had gotten a little help from someone else, if they were not 55/5, Rashid Khan would have single-handedly won them the match,” Chopra said.
Aakash Chopra further added that although Mumbai Indians had set a huge target of 219 runs, Rashid Khan was outstanding with the ball for Gujarat Titans.
