Before the submission of the retention list to the BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders has got a special move in which they traded Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals in a cash deal. This means, in IPL 2023, Shardul Thakur will be seen playing under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.
The all-rounder was bagged by Delhi Capitals for 10.75 crores in the mega Auction of IPL 2022 and is now in New Zealand for the T20I and ODI series. According to a source from Cricinfo, before KKR, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings also asked Delhi to trade Shardul Thakur but was did not happen.
As per the BCCI’s and IPL committee instruction, all the teams have to
submit the retention list of players by November 15 before 5 PM. As of now, teams like Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have already released some of their best players and the data from other teams are yet to arrive.
Talking about Shardul Thakur’s performance in IPL 2022, the player got 15 wickets in all 14 games he played with an expensive economy of 9.79. His performance with the bat was also underwhelming and he got just 120 runs.
