The former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has expressed that Punjab Kings’ recent victory over Delhi Capitals was the first time they had won because of a Punjab player. His statement came as the opening partner of Shikhar Dhawan Prabhsimran Singh smashed a solid hundred and then in bowling, Harpreet Brar took four wickets to secure the win by a margin of 31 runs. After the game, Virender Sehwag spoke to Cricbuzz and stated that the recent victory of Punjab Kings was the first time that the team had won a match due to the efforts of Punjabis.
He highlighted that Prabhsimran Singh played a crucial role in the win by scoring his first century in the Indian Premier League. He scored an impressive 103 runs off 65 deliveries which included 10 boundaries and six sixes.”This is the first time that Punjab won due to the Punjabis.
Be it Prabhsimran or Brar, both of them play for PCA and PBKS, and won the game for their side with wonderful displays,” said Sehwag.Sehwag also praised Harpreet Brar who dismissed Manish Pandey with an extraordinary delivery. The former Indian batter compared this to the ball of the century which Shane Warne delivered. Brar played a vital role in Punjab Kings’ victory by taking the wickets of David Warner, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, and Manish Pandey. With these wickets, he minimized all the chances of the Delhi Capitals’ win.”Brar was incredible. To bowl an over in the Powerplay and be hit for runs, the way he made a comeback in wonderful fashion.
The ball that got Manish Pandey was like Shane Warne’s ball of the century. The ball that sent Warner packing was also good, Riley Rossouw played a bad shot. But overall, it was very intelligent bowling from Brar,” Sehwag added. After their recent victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Punjab Kings will now face Delhi Capitals once again in their upcoming match on May 17.
