The Indian Premier League has built the careers of many young cricketers, not only Indian but also foreigners. Every year a bunch of players perform well for their respective franchisees and get a chance to play for their national team.
There are several instances where players expect a bid for themselves but ultimately they get disappointment. A similar thing has happened with one of the IPL stars Sandeep Sharma. Sandeep Sharma has performed amazingly for all the franchises for which he has played but unfortunately did not get any bids in the Mini-auction ahead of IPL 2023.
After getting no bid from any of the 10 franchisees, Sandeed has shared his emotional feelings while talking to cricket.com. The bowler stated, “I’m shocked and disappointed. I don’t know why I went unsold. I’ve done well whichever team I had played for and genuinely thought some team would bid for me. To be honest, I was not expecting this. Don’t even know where it has gone wrong. In domestic cricket, I have been performing well. In the Ranji Trophy, last round, I took seven wickets. I did so well with Syed Mushtaq Ali.”
To date, Sandeep Sharma has served two teams in the IPL, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has strong experience and wicket-taking abilities and the player has performed well, especially in the powerplay.
“I have always strived to be consistent in my bowling. And that’s the only thing in my hands. I can’t control selection or non-selection. If a chance comes then good, or else, I have to keep doing good work,” he added.
In the Auction, the base price of Sandeep was INR 50 Lakh but he could not get any buyers. However, there is still a chance for Sandeep to make it into the IPL 2023. If any bowler from the respective franchisees gets injured, the teams can approach Sandeep for a suitable replacement.
