In the 19th match of the Indian Premier League, 2023, Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs. In this high-scoring match, SRH gave a target of 229 runs batting first and KKR chased it to 205 runs at the loss of seven wickets.
In this match, KKR captain Nitish Rana won the toss and opted to bowl first. Harry Brook from England who was the most expensive player for SRH this year scored a hundred(100*) in just 55 balls. During this inning, he smashes 12 fours and three sixes. Apart from him, Aiden Markram got 50 runs and Abhishek Sharma got 32 runs to take the team’s score above 200.
For KKR, Andre Russell got three wickets, while Varun Chakaravarthy managed to get one.
The target of 229 runs was not an easy one for KKR. The team lost their five batters under 100 and it seemed they would head nowhere but captain Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh showed courage to take the team ahead but could not convert it into a victory. Rana got 75 runs in 41 balls and Rinku Singh got 58 runs.
For SRH, Marco Jansen and Mayank Markande grabbed two wickets each, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, and Umran Malik also managed to get one wicket in their respective accounts.
