IPL 2023: ‘Drop Prithvi Shaw And Make Mitchell Marsh The Opener Of DC’, Former Australian Star Huge Statement On Warner’s Team

The former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody has suggested that Delhi Capitals Management need to take some bold steps in order to make a strong comeback in the ongoing season of IPL 2023. He said that the Delhi Capitals should remove Prithvi Shaw from the playing XI and reconsider their foreign players’ combination to improve their performance in the tournament.

Shaw’s performance in the current season of IPL has been disappointing as he has scored only a high score of 15 runs in five innings and has also recorded two ducks. Unfortunately, Shaw’s poor form has come at a time when Delhi Capitals have been struggling and have lost all five matches of the tournament so far.

Moody expressed his opinion on a show at ESPNcricinfo. He said that the Delhi Capitals should not persist with Shaw and must look to improve their decision before the upcoming matches.

The former Australian cricketer said,”You’ve got to make a tough call on certain players that aren’t showing any light at the end of the tunnel. And on the evidence of what we’ve seen so far with Prithvi Shaw, it may well be that IPL 2023 may not be his year where he has the impact that we all hoped that he was going to have.”

“It can just be, ‘oh, we’ll give him a couple more games and see what happens’. Those couple of games go, your chances as a franchise have gone.”

Moody suggested that Mitchell Marsh should open the innings for Delhi in place of Prithvi Shaw. Marsh had performed brilliantly as an opener during the ODI series in India in March. According to Moody, having Marsh as an opener can also benefit DC’s captain David Warner.

IPL 2023: “He will be seen in india….” Rohit Sharma Made A Big Prediction About This MI Player

Moody said,”He’s done that before recently and he’s done it successfully. He’s naturally an enforcer so that would complement Warner. It would help him as well. You’ve got a left-right combination, you’ve got a 6ft4in and a 5ft8in batter, which is difficult to bowl to.”
