IPL 2023: Bad News For CSK, Star All-Rounder Will Leave The Team In Amidst Of Ongoing IPL Season

Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, is very close to making its place in the playoffs. Chennai Super Kings have to play their last league match against Delhi Capitals on 20th May. Looking at the playoff race, this match will be very important. But the Chennai Super Kings team suffered a big setback before this match.

A big match-winner player of Chennai Super Kings will leave the team in the middle of the season. This player will not be a part of the team after the league match. If the CSK team manages to make it to the playoffs, then the team will have to play further in the season without this player.

England Test captain Ben Stokes, who is struggling with fitness problems, will return home after the last league match of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2023. Ben Stokes has decided to return mid-season to prepare for the Ashes series starting next month.

Chennai Super Kings bought 31-year-old all-rounder Ben Stokes in the December 2022 auction for Rs 16.25 crore. He played only two matches for Chennai, in which he scored seven and eight runs. He did only one over in which he gave 18 runs.

According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Stokes will return home after the final league match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday evening. The Ashes series between Australia and England will begin on 16th June. England will also play a one-off Test match against Ireland at Lord’s from 1st June in connection with the preparations for the Ashes. Ben Stokes will be seen playing in this match as well.

Chennai Super Kings have played a total of 13 matches so far this season. Out of these, Chennai Super Kings have won 7 matches and lost in 5. If Chennai Super Kings manages to defeat Delhi Capitals in the last match of the league stay, then it will secure its place in the playoffs. Currently, CSK is in second place in the points table with 15 points.
