IPL 2023: An Unwanted Record Added To The Name Of David Warner In IPL History

David Warner has achieved a duck in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match for Delhi Capitals (DC) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, May 10. Warner was dismissed in the first over after giving the Capitals a target of 168 runs in 20 overs.

In the second ball, Deepak Chahar bowled at a speed of 127 mph, and Warner tried to play the cut shot, but he did not get the timing right, and Ajinkya Rahane easily caught the catch in the point region. Warner returned to the pavilion with DC scoring 0/1 in 0.2 overs.

Warner achieved his 23rd duck in the 353rd match of his T20 career. Herschelle Gibbs, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Cameron Delport, Luke Wright, Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik and Daniel Christian also hold the record for 23 ducks in T20 cricket. It was also Warner’s 11th duck in IPL history. Only Sunil Narine has 15 IPL ducks among foreign players, Glenn Maxwell has 14, and Rashid Khan has 12 IPL ducks.

Warner is also the third-highest run-scorer in IPL after Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. He is the first batsman with the most 50 Fifty plus scores in IPL. After him, the names of Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli are included in this list. AB de Villiers’ name is at number three.

Warner is the best player for the Capitals in IPL 2023. In 11 matches, he has scored 330 runs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 119.56. This includes his four half-centuries and getting out for 0 in a few matches.

Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 27 runs and almost sealed their seat in the playoffs of the 16th edition of IPL. With this victory, the Chennai team has reached close to the playoffs. Chennai scored 167 runs for eight wickets. In reply, Delhi could only manage 140 runs for eight wickets and lost the match. This is Delhi’s seventh defeat. They have three matches left and can reach a maximum of 14 points. In such a situation, they can’t reach the playoffs.
