IPL 2023: Aakash Chopra Gives A Blunt Prediction On Ben Stokes, Predicts The Openers Of CSK

The festival for Cricket fans, IPL is just 2 days away. In the opening encounter of IPl 2023, Chennai Super Kings will face Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium. Meanwhile, all the eyes will be on CSK’s most expensive buy Ben Stokes as fans are eager to see him playing with players like MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.

Former Indian cricketer and now a dashing commentator Aakash Chopra believes that Ben Stokes can only be successful for Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 IPL if he bats in the top order.

Aakash Chopra is surprised by CSK paying a huge amount of INR 16.25 crore to acquire the services of Ben Stokes. Chopra thinks that since the conditions in Chepauk are favorable for spinners, it would be challenging for Stokes to bat lower down the order. He feels Stokes should bat in the top three to utilize his potential at best.

While talking on his youtube channel, Aakash Chopra talked about the probable opening partnership between Ben Stokes and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the IPL 2023.

Aakash Chopra said, “It surprised me when they broke the bank for Ben Stokes because I don’t know how he will perform in the conditions in Chennai. He is someone who likes to take a bit of time before playing his shots and also likes to bat in the top order. So will it be Ruturaj who will hit the ground running? It will be interesting to see.”

Aakash Chopra also talked about the Chennai Super Kings and their connection with the Chepauk. The former cricketer feels it would give CSK an upper hand compared to other teams playing at Chepauk.

The commentator stated, “They have filled their team with multi-faceted players and will also be bolstered by the return of Deepak Chahar. The Chepauk has become a fortress that not many have been able to breach. Out of those seven games, if they win even four to five, they will need just two to three wins from the remaining games so this is a huge advantage for them.”
