India’s Spinners Rewrite History with Rare Record in Dharamsala Test

Team India and England are currently up against one another for the final time in the series, as both teams are currently playing against each other in Dharamshala.

However, on the first day of the fifth test match, India completely dominated the opening day as Indian spinners produced magic on the field, bundling the visitors for just 218.

For Team India, Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers as the leggie dismantled the English batting line-up, picking up five wickets. Kuldeep was given brilliant company by Ashwin, who picked up four wickets in his 100th test match for India. The solitary wicket in England’s innings was picked up by Ravindra Jadeja.

This is the first time in the last 48 years that Indian spinners picked up 10 wickets on day one of a test match. The previous occasion came way back in 1976, when the Indian spinner took all 10 wickets against New Zealand in Auckland.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav completed his 50 test wickets, becoming the fastest in terms of ball to do so.

Speaking of his bowling, Kuldeep said, “I was using the drift well on both sides,” Kuldeep Yadav said after the stumps on Day 1. “I am very happy that we were able to get them out for 218 as it is a good wicket. As a spinner, you focus on the length and try to hit a good length. At times, you change plans as per conditions. If you are getting drift, then you have to think about the lines as well. The more you play, the easier it becomes to control. Speed also matters. If you bowl at a certain speed and change your pace, it gets difficult for the batters.”
