The Indian cricket team, located in Birmingham’s center, was advised to remain inside after a suspicious package was found near Centenary Square.
A source from the BCCI told PTI that the players were asked to stay put following a social media update from the Birmingham City Centre Police. The Indian cricketers usually explore areas near their hotel. Before the second Test, they often visited Broad Street.
Eight players, including captain Shubman Gill, trained at Edgbaston, while the other ten team members had the day off.
We have a cordon around Centenary Square in Birmingham as we check a suspicious package, Birmingham City Centre Police posted on X. We were notified before 3 pm, and some buildings were evacuated as a precaution while the situation is assessed. Please stay away from the area.
An hour later, the police removed the cordon.
