Former Indian leg spinner Anil Kumble has noted that Indian cricket fans will wish to see Virat Kohli replicating his outstanding IPL 2024 performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Kohli once again came with an outstanding knock and scored an impressive 92 runs from just 47 balls in the recent match, guiding RCB to their fourth consecutive win. His exceptional innings had a notable influence on the game in Dharamsala.
RCB clinched a commanding victory by a margin of 60 runs, with Kohli continuing to lead the Orange Cap in the list. Kohli has amassed an impressive total of 634 runs in 12 matches, showcasing a remarkable strike rate of 153.51 and an average of 70.44. His pivotal role in the RCB lineup highlights his significance, and he is expected to play a crucial role in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA.
In an interview with JioCinema, Kumble said that Kohli has been in exceptional form and has shown relentless dedication to excellence. The former India coach is optimistic that Kohli will maintain his impressive form in the upcoming ICC event.
“Yeah, absolutely. He’s been in outstanding form. He had a bit of a break coming into the IPL, and then he’s just been relentless in his pursuit of excellence. And you could see that. I mean, he’s at the top of the table there with 634 runs, and I’m sure RCB would want him to win the next two games, and hopefully, qualify. But, you know, for India’s sake, you would want this form to continue in the World Cup as well,” said Kumble.
