India vs West Indies, 4th T20I: Match Preview

Following their loss in the second T20I, Team India staged a strong comeback. Suryakumar Yadav finally had his chance to shine as an opener as he smashed 76 runs off 44 balls while chasing 165, whilst Rohit Sharma was injured and forced to withdraw after just facing 5 balls owing to a back spasm. Rishabh Pant stayed unbeaten for 33 runs in 26 balls as India crossed the finish line with 7 wickets and one over left, while Shreyas Iyer maintained his dismal record in T20Is with 24 runs off 27 deliveries.

With four wickets in three games, Arshdeep Singh is the highest wicket-taker for team India in the current series thanks to his steady bowling, especially in the closing overs. Hardik Pandya has made significant breakthroughs with the ball in hand while Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also recorded wickets. Avesh Khan, who has surrendered 78 runs in 5.2 overs so far in this series, should worry India.

After the first T20I, West Indies’ batting improved thanks to the addition of Brandon King, who got a fifty in the second T20I. His opening partner Kyle Mayers stepped up in the third T20I, smashing 73 runs off 50 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes to help his team to a respectable total. In order to take on Indian bowlers and tie the series in the fourth T20I, explosive batsmen Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer would need to step up.

Indian batsmen have struggled against left-arm pacers, and Obed McCoy of the West Indies has expertly seized on this shortcoming. In the three T20Is, McCoy has 7 wickets, including a 5-fer. Jason Holder, Akeel Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph will also take on the Indian batting to even the series. McCoy will also bat.
