India vs West Indies, 3rd ODI: Match Preview
After winning two matches in the final over of the match. India will be more than ready for the final contest of the series. Shikhar Dhawan & Co. will look for a clean sweep 3-0 in the Caribbean and also test its bench strength in the process.
West Indies will try to take lessons from the consecutive defeats and work on holding their nerves during the crucial moments in the match. They would want to come with full force to fight for their pride in the third ODI.
In the second ODI, West Indies scored 311 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs while batting first. India chased down the score with just 2 balls to spare and only 2 wickets in hand.
West Indies openers gave a blistering start to the team in the first 10 overs. Shai Hope scored a magnificent century in his 100th ODI and captain Nicholas Pooran also made a significant contribution with the bat scoring 74 runs while smashing six sixes in his innings. West Indies’ batting order looks balanced and filled with pinch hitters as well as technically sound batters. They will look to continue their fine performance with the bat in the next match as well.
West Indies’ bowling also looked strong in both the matches but they are seriously missing the services of Jason Holder, especially in their bowling attack. Bowlers like Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales are also doing a fine job. They can try Keemo Paul in the next match to provide balance to the team, as he can bat in the death and also bowl crucial overs with the ball.
For India, Top order batting is looking decent except for Suryakumar Yadav who would want to score big in the final ODI. Shubhman Gill, Shikhar Dhawan, and Shreyas Iyer have got some runs in the series. Although Shikhar Dhawan would look to end his century drought. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel were the two big positives for India in the last match. They would try to continue the run to cement their position in the team. Ruturaj Gaikwad could be tried in the final ODI.
Indian bowling would look to improve their economy rate in the final ODI. Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Axar Patel bowled well for the team in the second ODI. While Yuzvendra Chahal and Avesh Khan were expensive. In place of Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, who recently made his T20I debut against England could be tested.
