India won its first match quite comfortably by 68 runs and will try to continue its winning streak against West Indies.
West Indies were completely outperformed in the first match. They would want to give some competition to stay alive in the series.
India scored 190 runs in 20 overs while batting first, losing 6 wickets in the process. West Indies only managed 122 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets in the process.
For India, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Kartik were two big positives with the bat. The most experienced players in the 11 took the total out of West Indies’ hands. Although Shreyas Iyer received flak from ex-cricketers like Venkatesh Prasad for his four-ball duck innings. Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya would also like to correct their mistakes in the upcoming clash.
India had some of the most balanced bowling performances in recent times in the first match.
For the West Indies, batting and bowling both looked mediocre and poor. Undisciplined bowling with no balls cost them many excess runs to chase. Jason Holder who is key to the West Indian side preparing for the World Cup would look to up his game. As he was expensive during his bowling giving away 50 runs in four overs and also dismissed without scoring any runs when he came to bat.
If Indies have to take charge of India, captain Pooran has to go beyond the limits against the Indian bowlers. Kayle Mayers will be crucial at the top order. It will be interesting to see how the giant Odean Smith goes against the Indians.
West Indies will look for a return against the mighty Indian side who are currently flawless.
