A report suggests the Asia Cup 2025 will probably happen from September 5 to September 21. Even with the India-Pakistan tensions after the Jammu & Kashmir terrorist attack, the tournament should proceed as scheduled, with all games in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
There was doubt about this year’s Asia Cup, especially after the terrorist attack claiming 26 lives in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. India responded with Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Because of these tensions, an India-Pakistan cricket match seemed improbable. With both countries playing at a neutral site and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) keeping hosting rights, the match might occur.
TimesofIndia.com says India and Pakistan might play each other on September 7, shortly after the tournament starts. The tournament uses the T20 format and includes six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and the UAE.
After a group stage, there will be a Super Four round, and then the final on September 21.
If India and Pakistan both reach the Super Four stage, they might play again on September 14 (Sunday). The final game is expected on September 21 (Sunday).
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) hasn’t officially confirmed the schedule, but preparations continue, and participating nations are getting approvals from their governments.
Despite this, India-Pakistan bilateral series are unlikely soon. The two countries will probably only play in big tournaments like the Asia Cup or ICC events.
