Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has talked about the importance of Ravindra Jadeja’s role in India’s ODI World Cup journey, noting that the all-rounder has shown significant improvement in white-ball cricket as well. Jadeja bowled brilliantly during India’s second Group A match against Nepal in Pallekele on Monday, September 4.
The star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been on and off in the ODIs in recent times. However, he is a definite pick for India in the ODI World Cup squad which will be announced today.
In the match against Nepal at Pallekele, Jadeja made a significant impact by taking 3 wickets in his first 8 overs. He managed to create a halt for the Nepal batters who had a promising start with the bat. Once Nepal was standing at 178 for 6 after 37.5 overs, with Jadeja’s performance in the middle overs proving pivotal.
Speaking about Ravindra Jadeja on Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar talked about the improvement of all-rounders in white-ball cricket and said,”There is a very good chance, it’s almost a certainty that he will play all the World Cup matches. India can’t do without him. Axar Patel will be there in the reserves but Jadeja will be the first-choice spin-bowling all-rounder. If the pitch is rough, if you have got a quality opposition, he will finish in 10 overs.”
Manjrekar also said that it will be dreadful to compare Yuvraj Singh and Ravindra Jadeja but the current left-arm all-rounder will definitely make his place into the squad.
