IND vs NED: Shreyas Iyer Statement After Smashing The First ODI World Cup Hundred

Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer has revealed that he took medicine for cramps before his marvelous innings against the Netherlands. The 28-year-old recollected an incident earlier this year in the Indore ODI against Australia when he had to deliberately get out due to cramps.

In the final league-stage match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Indian cricket team convincingly defeated the Netherlands by a margin of 160 runs. While batting first, India posted a formidable total of 410/4 on the scoreboard, with Shreyas Iyer leading the charge with an unbeaten 128 runs off 94 balls. KL Rahul scored an impressive 102 off 64 deliveries. In response, the Dutch team was bowled out for 250.

Shreyas Iyer received the Player of the Match award and while talking to the media at the post-match presentation, Iyer said, “I kind of had a deja vu. This had happened against Australia as well, and I threw my wicket and I came but this time I wanted to come not out. I took pills for the cramps. Today [Sunday] it came and I am very happy.”

He further added, “The scores I got in the last few days helped me. The wicket was playing tacky, a bit two-paced. I wanted to capitalize on the start.”
