IND vs AUS 4th Test: Cheteshwar Pujara Achieved 2 Milestones, Joins The Elite List Of Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman

During the ongoing fourth Test match between India and Australia in Ahmedabad on Saturday, star Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara achieved two significant milestones while batting in the first innings. The right-handed batsman became the fourth Indian batsman, after Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and current head coach Rahul Dravid, to score 2000 runs against Australia in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Overall, he is the sixth batsman to cross the 2000-run mark.

Before the start of the Ahmedabad Test, Pujara required nine runs to complete 2000 runs against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which he achieved by scoring exactly nine runs in the morning session of the third day’s play. This is Pujara’s 24th Test match against Australia, and he now has a total of 2002* runs to his credit.

In addition to achieving the milestone of scoring 2000 runs against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Pujara also completed 1000 runs against Australia in India, making him the fourth Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid.

In this match, Australian captain Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bat first. Australia scored 480 runs in the first innings where Usman Khawaja scored 180 runs and Cameron Green came with a solid 114-run knock.
