IND vs AUS, 1st T20: He Is On The Path Of MS Dhoni And Hardik Pandya, Abhishek Nayar Praises The Young Indian Batter

In the first T20I match between India and Australia played in Visakhapatnam, men in blue beat the visitors by two wickets. It was Rinku Singh who took India home from a crunch situation. Meanwhile, former Indian batter Abhishek Nayar has praised the KKR batter Rinku for his unbelievable temperament and potential to finish matches.

Rinku remained unbeaten on 22 runs from 14 deliveries, hitting four boundaries, as India successfully chased a target of 209 with just one ball remaining in their innings.

Nayar praised Rinku and his consistent display of character throughout his brief career with the Indian team. The experienced individual noted that despite his limited time in international cricket, the southpaw has exhibited a level of maturity comparable to that of veterans.

While talking to Jio Cinema, Nayar said, “It takes a lot of character. We speak about someone, who has done it in the IPL and domestic cricket. Just to see Rinku hold his nerve and to have the composure shows that he has grown leaps and bounds.”

“It’s the third time he has done this for India, the third time India needed him to do something special and he turned up. He hasn’t played international cricket for 5-7 years, but has the maturity and skill of someone who has played that long,” he stated.

Nayar confidently claimed that India has discovered a new finisher in Rinku, filling the role that was previously handled by players like MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya for team India.

“It tells you that he has mastered the art of finishing an inning. It’s not easy and it’s been a while since Hardik and MS Dhoni did that for us, but post that, there’s no one who has played the finisher’s role so well. It’s not just the runs he gets, but the way he gets them. There is a certain calm and composure about the way he’s playing his cricket,” Nayar added.
