In qualifier 2 of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Abhishek Sharm and Travis Head did not give a terrific start as expected. However, after failing in batting, Abhishek Sharma contributed with his batting and grabbed two wickets for his team. The left-arm spinner dismissed the very crucial wickets of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer.
Former India player Harbhajan Singh has expressed his desire to see Abhishek Sharma included in Team India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The deadline for making any changes in the squad is May 25, and the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has already announced the 15-member team along with four reserves.
“Abhishek Sharma should have gone to the West Indies and the USA. He deserves to play for India. India has four spinners in the team and there is still a day left to make changes. The team needs players like him, who can contribute with the bat and ball,” Harbhajan Singh said on Star Sports.
While opening the innings for SRH, the batter has amassed over 400 runs with a strike rate exceeding 200 in the 17th season of IPL 2024.
However, Abhishek Sharma is not present there in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup but he will look to make a place for him in the upcoming five-match T20 Series against Zimbabwe.
