“In the case of the champions trophy we will…” Rajeev Shukla provides an update on Team India’s chances to travel to Pakistan

The BCCI’s vice president, Rajeev Shukla, spoke about India’s chances of traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy. This will be the first time that Pakistan has had the rights to host the ICC tournament since the 1996 World Cup. However, there are numerous speculations about Team India’s traveling to Pakistan for the marquee event.

However, BCCI’s vice president, Rajeev Shukla, has finally spoken about Team India’s strategy regarding the Champions Trophy. Rajeev Shukla said, “In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So we will go according to the decision of the Indian government.”

According to various sources, Pakistan has allotted three venues, namely Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Lahore, as the venues for the Champions Trophy. The reports further suggest that Team India will be playing all their matches in Lahore.

Team India has not visited Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. Even the last bilateral series between the two sides was played in 2012–13. However, the two teams come against each other in ICC tournaments.

Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup last year; however, India played all its matches in Sri Lanka. The two India and Pakistan matches were held in Kandy and Colombo.
