Imran Khan To Not Be The Part Of ‘Parade of Champions’ Ceremony During 2023 World Cup Final, Here Is The Big Reason

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned a ‘Parade of Champions’ event to take place during the 2023 World Cup final between India and Australia on Sunday, November 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The ‘Parade of Champions’ event is organized to pay tribute to all the previous World Cup-winning captains. This special ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the first innings during the highly anticipated clash between Team India and Australia. The pinnacle encounter is set to captivate an audience of over one lakh fans this weekend.

The BCCI looks forward to assembling a series of programs for the big day which also includes the Parade of Champions. Invitations have already been sent to all the captains who have previously clinched the trophy.

In the group of captains, the former captain of Pakistan Imran Khan who led them to victory in the 1992 World Cup, will be unable to attend the event. He is currently detained and behind bars in Pakistan, making it impossible for him to travel to India for the occasion.

Imran Khan was arrested on August 5, 2023, and he received a three-year prison sentence from the court. The verdict found him guilty of unlawfully selling state gifts. This legal situation prevents his participation in events such as the Parade of Champions during the 2023 World Cup final in India.
