ILT20’s Zero-Tolerance Policy: Noor Ahmed Lands in Trouble For Player Agreement Violation

Afganistan’s mystery spinner, Noor Ahmed, has been banned for one year from participation in the IL T20s league. Noor has been banned for violating the contract that he signed with Shariah warriors.

Warriors signed Noor for the inaugural season of the league and was offered another year extension by the franchise, but Afganistan’s player refused to sign the retention notice and instead went on to play in the SA 20 league.

After this, the IL T20 announced an official statement regarding Noor’s ban, saying, “The IL T20 has banned Afganistan’s spinner Noor Ahmad for 12 months for violating his Player Agreement with the Sharjah Warriors, who had signed him for the inaugural of the tournament. Noor was offered one more year extension by the Warriors but refused to sign the retention notice for Season 2.”

IL T 20’s three-member committee investigated the entire matter; both parties were separately heard, and after that, the verdict was conveyed.

The committee earlier recommended a 20-month ban on the Afghan spinner, but Noor was a minor at the time of signing the contract, and his agent had not informed him about the full terms and conditions of the contract.

Noor is the second player from Afghanistan to get banned by the IL T20 League before him. Naveen ul Haq was also banned for repeating the same offense. Naveen has been banned for a period of 20 months, which means he will not be in action for the upcoming two seasons of the league.
