As World Cup 2022 is not too far away, everyone is speculating about India’s T20 World Cup squad and in between many discussions, Md Shami exclusion has become a trending topic. According to reports, Md Shami had been told by Indian selectors that, he will not be part of any T20Is, because of his workload management. And with the declaration of Asia Cup 15 member team it seems that all the reports are true.
India’s former cricketer K Shrikkanth feels, India have taken one spinner too many in their squad. They have plenty of options in Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi. The former selector suggested that the Men in Blue could have easily selected Md Shami in place of one of those spinners, probably Bishnoi. He said,” If I was the chairman of the selection committee, I think Shami would have been there and probably in the place of Ravi Bishnoi”. He further added,” Md Shami on Australian pitches could be proved lethal because of pace and bounce”. Earlier, K Shrikkanth had also suggested BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma to have a phone call before selecting the Indian team for T20 World Cup.
